Takotsubo cardiomyopathy
- Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, currently called apical ballooning syndrome or broken heart syndrome, was initially reported by Japanese group in 2001 (Tsuchihashi K, et al. JACC 2001:38:11-8). The authors named this symptom based on octopus catching pot whose shape is similar to apical ballooning observed by LVG. The disease concept is now very popular around the world. Nuclear cardiology approach using 123I-MIBG is useful for diagnosis or evaluate the disease status of this disease. See more Okuyama K, et al. ANC 2018, vol 4, 101-4
